Officials have confirmed New Zealand has two new cases of the coronavirus COVID-19, bringing the total to eight.

Newshub reports the Director-General of Health Doctor Ashley Bloomfield confirmed the latest cases are both foreign nationals - from Australia and Denmark.

Dr Bloomfield said both those people are in isolation.

It comes after a man in his 60s, who recently arrived from the US, had tested positive for the virus on Friday and was confirmed as NZ's sixth infected person on yesterday after feeling unwell earlier in the week.
