The Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s side lost to the USA 15-7 in their opening pool match at the HSBC SVNS Cape Town 7s.

The Fijiana side started strong, putting pressure on the Americans, but they could not combine well and let the game slip out of their hands.

The USA scored two unanswered tries in the first half to lead 10-5 at halftime.

The second half started well for Fiji, but due to discipline issues, they could not cross over for another try.

The USA regrouped, and Kaylen Thomas crossed over for her second try.

The Fijiana will now turn their focus to their next match against Great Britain at 12am tomorrow, and they will play New Zealand at 3.48am in their last pool match.

In other results, Japan defeated Canada 26-19, and Australia beat France 41-0.

The women’s semi-finals will start at 9.38pm tomorrow, and the final is scheduled for 2.10am Monday.
