The Fijian Elections Office has conducted the candidate number draw for next month’s General Elections.
The draw was led by the Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem who read out the names of the 235 candidates before the draw started. 508 was the first number that was drawn.
All the candidates numbers and details can be seen on our website fijivillage.com
Saneem says they will also start distribution for the voter instructions booklets in the maritime areas which is the pre-poll areas so that the people in these areas are able to get the information of candidate number earlier as they start voting on 5th November.
Saneem says that they will soon release the new revised timeline.
Meanwhile, two political parties that were present at the candidate number draw have praised the transparency of the draw.
Unity Party candidate, Ligavatu Gukisuva says as a candidate, he finds the process credible while Fiji Labour Party’s Lavenia Padarath says that it is a transparent process but the draw should have been done earlier.
