The Fiji Cancer Society interim board continues to discover new information as investigations continue on the total amount of funds held by the Cancer Society and how the money collected for people living with cancer has been spent by the previous board.
Interim board chairperson Nazhat Shameem said the Suva and Western branches have never been audited which has made work difficult for the current auditors.
Shameem said it’s difficult to conduct the audit as key documents are missing.
She said just last week they also discovered another bank account in Lautoka.
Shameem said these findings have also delayed the auditing process.
She said at the moment she cannot reveal how much funds the Society has as the auditing is still ongoing.
According to Shameem the good news is that the trustees have completed the internal auditing and handed it over to the external auditors.
She said they have also completed the draft constitution and code of conduct which they have circulated to the trustees.
She added that once all the auditing is completed they can have their AGM and also establish the total amount of funds in all the accounts of the Cancer Society.
The Fiji Cancer Society has 18 bank accounts.
