New member of the Fiji 7s team extended squad Elia Canakaivata is dedicating his achievement to his late dad and elder brother who passed away in the accident at Matacula Village in Tailevu on December 27th last year.

Canakaivata says he nearly stopped following his dreams but was encouraged by his mum to continue to move forward.

He says the years of struggle has paid off when his name was called out to be a member of the Fiji 7s extended squad to Dubai.

Players who have been named in the 15 member extended squad are Joseva Talacolo, Jeremaia Matana, Kavekini Tabu, Elia Canakaivata, Tevita Daugunu, Daniele Yaya, Terio Tamani, Kaminieli Rasaku, Iowane Teba, Manueli Maisamoa, Panapasa Qeruqeru and Iowane Ratuciri.

The back-to-back Dubai 7s will take place on the 26th and 27th of this month and on the 3rd and 4th of December.
