Canada upsets Fiji on day one of London 7s

Canada started the first upset of London 7s after beating the Vodafone Fiji 7s 22-19 with a last minute try by former captain John Moonlight.

Moonlight has scored his 100th try in the World Sevens Series.

Fiji started off well with tries to Vatemo Ravouvou and Kalione Nasoko which puts them in the lead in the first half to 12-5.

Canada got to a flying start in the second half with a try to Moonlight and Nathan Hirayama.

Amenoni Nasilasila then scored Fiji’s third try to put them to a 19-17 lead towards the end of the game.

Canada never gave up and putting the Fijians on test with hard running and maintaining possesion.

Moonlight was the hero when he received a wide pass to score in the corner and made it 22-19.

Fiji will now play Japan in their second pool match at 11.36 tonight before facing New Zealand at 3.04am tomorrow.

The medal quarter finals start at 9.58pm tomorrow, the semis will be played at 1.48am Monday while the medal final will kick off at 4.57am Monday.
