Former Permanent Secretary for Education, Emitai Boladuadua is calling on the government to step aside and let a caretaker government take Fiji to elections as suggested by the Yash Ghai commission.
While raising question in the draft constitution session, Boladuadua said the current government should step aside as it is not elected.
Acting Prime Minister and Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said there will be no caretaker government made up of former senior civil servants going into the elections.
He also told Boladuadua that the late Ratu Mara led government was unelected from 1987 to 1992 when the 1990 constitution was also implemented.
