Ministry of Health teams are currently carrying out screening and surveillance work in Suva with the disciplined forces.

Minister for Health, Doctor Ifereimi Waqainabete says greater community screening is essential.

He says people should call 158 if they are experiencing any COVID like symptoms that include dry cough, fever, fatigue, loss of taste or smell, shortness of breath, chest pain and body ache.

Meanwhile, Permanent Secretary for Health Doctor James Fong says they are hoping to screen about 15,000 people today.

The government has restricted the movement of people from 7pm last night to 11pm tonight where people can only go out to get essential food supplies or medication.

Fong says they are hoping everyone will be home so that they can screen more people.
