COVID-19 response team arrives in Kadavu

Medical efforts to contain the COVID-19 virus on Kadavu has been strengthened through assistance from the private sector, with Goundar Shipping arriving in Kadavu this morning with much-needed supplies and health equipment for officials.

The Ministry of Transport says transportation is critical in providing linkage from one port to another during this time of the pandemic.

They say the work of the Government Shipping Services is critical in ensuring health officials and frontliners travel comfortably on their vessels.

The Ministry says the safety of the crew, passengers, cargo and the vessel remains paramount as they undertake their services diligently.

A 55-member response team have been deployed to Kadavu to assist with containment efforts on the island and offer treatment for those who develop severe disease.

29 new cases of COVID-19 are reported on Kadavu adding to a total of 164 active cases reported on the island.
