Swire Shipping Fijian Drua Coach Mick Byrne says the team tried really hard to get the job done in their first match against the Waratahs on Friday but a lot of unusual mistakes let them down.

Byrne says they knew they can play well but just needed to understand how they can live with the pace of the game.

He says if they had held on to the ball better, their performance would have been like the last 20 minutes.

Byrne adds they have been training well since the first match and are ready to play the Brumbies this week.

The Drua will play the Brumbies in their second match at 3.35pm Saturday.
