Tomasi Tuirabe

The person who allegedly bought the $4,000 Samsung Galaxy S22 phone from Tomasi Tuirabe for $100 has not been produced in court; however, the phone has been recovered.

Tuirabe appeared before Magistrate Yogesh Prasad this morning.

Magistrate Prasad told Tuirabe that the buyer will face the full brunt of the law, while Tuirabe will get half of the sentence, as if there is no receiver, then there is no crime.

The Police Prosecutor raised the issue that the person who bought the phone may not have known that it was stolen.

Magistrate Prasad stressed that if a person wants to buy a phone, they would go to stores like Courts, not buy from people on the streets.

The prosecutor has indicated that if there is evidence, then the buyer will be charged.

Magistrate Prasad has also ordered the complainant to be present in court for the next hearing.

The matter has been adjourned to the 17th of November.
