The President of the Labasa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Satish Kumar says some business owners in Labasa Town have recently bought land and are now going into commercial farming.

Kumar says they believe there is great potential in the agriculture sector as there is a huge demand for cash crops in overseas.

He says the Minister for Commerce and Trade, Faiyaz Koya has advised them that there is a big demand for yellow cassava and has asked business owners to consider venturing into commercial farming.

Kumar adds that other sectors of the economy have been affected and they believe commercial farming can open up new employment opportunities.
