The bus driver who allegedly caused the death of a 23-year-old woman in Suva last week, has been charged.

The accused has been charged with one count of Dangerous Driving Causing Death and will appear in the Suva Magistrates Court today.

Meanwhile, Nasese Buses Company Limited issued a statement saying they are incredibly saddened by the accident that involved one of their buses and will fully cooperate with authorities who are investigating while reexamining their internal mechanisms to prevent such accidents from occurring in the future.

The company says they regularly reiterate to their drivers that nothing is more important than the lives of pedestrians and passengers, and, while tragic, this accident is unacceptable.

They send their deepest condolences to family and friends who have irreversibly lost a loved one.
