Minister for Public Works, Ro Filipe Tuisawau

Halt in works at the CWM Hospital is due to an internal government financial process which was resolved and streamlined.

Minister for Public Works, Ro Filipe Tuisawau stated this when asked by fijivillage News on why there is a hold up of works on the operating theatres at CWM Hospital.

Ro Filipe says it was not the budget.

He says work at the CWM Hospital is being funded by the Ministry of Health and not his ministry calling it issues with some internal systems in terms of budget.

The Minister says there are internal government processes that needed to be sorted, and the work on the operating theatres is back on.

Only 4 out of 8 operating theatres are operational and Health Minister, Doctor Ratu Atonio Lalabalavu has said on fijivillage Straight Talk With Vijay Narayan that he is waiting for the Ministry of Works to complete the theatre works as there is a huge backlog of surgeries.

Dr Lalabalavu says the Ministry of Public Works has been allocated the money for infrastructure improvement however, he does not know why it is taking so long.
