The Vodafone Vanua Championship final has been shifted to next Saturday after the Fiji Rugby Union gave 48 hours to the Bua rugby team to appeal the Union’s decision regarding their complaint against Yasawa rugby.

Bua rugby lodged a complaint to the FRU that two players playing for Yasawa in their semi-final clash last weekend were yet to be released from their previous club.

FRU has confirmed that after considering the complaint from the Bua Rugby Union and the evidence provided by Suva Rugby Union and also considering the provisions of the Terms of Participation for the 2022 Fiji Rugby Vodafone Vanua Championship, that they have upheld the outcome of the Bua vs Yasawa match which was won by Yasawa 21-20.

FRU Chief Executive Officer John O’Connor says Bua has 48 hours to appeal the decision and if they exercise their right to appeal, the matter will be referred to the World Rugby accredited Judicial Officer for consideration.

O’Connor adds that anticipating an appeal from Bua against the decision, they have also made the decision to defer the final to next week.
