The ACT Brumbies have secured their first Super Rugby title in 16 years after defeating the Queensland Reds 28-23.

With 15 minutes remaining in Canberra, the Reds seemed destined for a heavy defeat.

Trailing by 15 points and down to 14 players after winger Filipo Daugunu was shown a yellow card, the Reds needed a miracle to get themselves back in the contest.

Daugunu was sin binned after attempting a dangerous tackle.

But a late onslaught from the Reds reduced the deficit to just five points, and set up a thrilling finish to last night’s encounter.
