Brothers pass away in a tragic swimming incident

The bodies of two brothers aged 9 and 11 years who drowned while swimming in Nasilai yesterday have been recovered by villagers.

Police say the two residing at the Nakelo District Primary School compound went swimming accompanied by their 26-year-old babysitter.

According to Police, the younger of the two victims was allegedly swept away by strong currents.

Police say the older brother attempted to rescue his sibling when they both drifted into deeper waters before disappearing.

Investigations are continuing. The drowning toll currently stands at 25 compared to 23 for the same period last year.
