British govt provides grant of $1.2 million to structure Fiji’s Blue Bond issuance in 2022

The British government will provide a grant support of $1.2 million to structure Fiji’s Blue Bond issuance in 2022.

Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum met with the British High Commissioner to Fiji, George Edgar and the Pacific Regional Development Director for the British Government, Jean-Paul Penrose yesterday and the meeting highlighted preparations for COP26 which is set to take place next month in Glasgow, Scotland.

They also discussed the need for bilateral development partners to explore new and innovative solutions to reduce the cost of accessing climate finance by Pacific small island developing states.

Sayed-Khaiyum thanked the British Government for supporting Fiji’s blue economy ambitions through grant funding and reaffirmed Fiji’s support of the British COP26 Presidency.
