Bridge in Raiwaqa, Navua to be replaced in the next 2 to 3 years - FRA

People from Raiwaqa, Navua are calling for solutions as they have to walk for more than 45 minutes to catch some means of transport during bad weather.

This is because the bridge gets flooded cutting off access to vehicles.

People have raised concern as this affects the daily routine of the people from the villages of Raiwaqa, Nakavu and Cagilaba, and Qela settlement.

Fijivillage has been informed that gravel has been put on the bridge to prevent flooding but it gets washed away during heavy rain.

When questioned, the Fiji Roads Authority says they regularly maintain the bridge, however, the long term plan is to replace the bridge in the next 2 to 3 years.

FRA says the bridge may be replaced with a high-level concrete structure if their current investigation shows that this is an appropriate solution.
