Bread price expected to decrease from today

Good News for bread lovers, as the Retail prices of bread is expected to decrease from today.

The Attorney General and Minister for Industry and Trade Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said that the approval for change in prices was based on a submission by the Commerce Commission.

This decrease in the price of bread will see consumers in the urban areas of Suva, Lautoka, Ba, Lami, Nadi, Sigatoka, Tavua, Nausori, Nasinu and areas near Korovou, Navua and Rakiraki pay 75cents for long loaf wrapped or unwrapped bread which was previously 80 cents, medium wrapped or sliced bread decreased from $1.11 to $1.05 and prices of wholemeal medium wrapped or sliced bread going down from $1.40 to $1.20.

Sayed-Khaiyum added that a recent 15% decrease in the price of Baker's Flour due to declining international wheat prices has resulted in a decrease in the price of Bread.

Fijivillage conducted a check this morning and most bakeries have yet to decrease bread prices.
