The Blues have defeated the Chiefs 21-17 in their Super Rugby Aotearoa match this afternoon.

The Blues started the match on a high note as fullback Matt Duffie crossed over the white line through a brilliant no-look pass from Reiko Ioane.

Blues captain Patrick Tuipolotu scored their second try to increase their lead to 14-0.

The Chiefs rallied back and a sneaky pass from Pita Gus Sowakula enabled loose-forward Lachlan Boshier to score the Chiefs first try.

The Blues led the Chiefs 14-7 at the break.

Chiefs wing Solomon Alaimalo scored a try with just 7 minutes into the second-half to put them in the lead.

Finlay Kristie then scored another try in the 55th minute to put the Blues back in the lead.

The final five minutes of the game was intense as the Blues defence was put to the test, but they did hold on to prevent the Chiefs from scoring.

This is the sixth straight loss for the Chiefs.
