The Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s team kicked off their Fiji Airways Mini International 7s campaign with a 22-5 loss to the Black Ferns at Albert Park this morning.
The Black Ferns scored 4 tries to the Fijiana’s 1 try through Reapi Uluinasau.
Black Ferns captain Sarah Hirini says the Fijiana 7s team is a tough team to beat and her team had to work hard for the win.
Hirini says their aim is to try and mix with their new players and work as one in this tournament.
She says this tournament will help them towards their preparation for the next season of rugby 7s.
In another match today, the France women’s 7s team defeated Australia 28-12.
The Fijiana will face France at 1pm and Australia will take on the Black Ferns at 1.20pm today in round 2 of the competition.
