Minister for Policing, Ioane Naivalurua

Minister for Policing, Ioane Naivalurua says the biggest challenge will be selecting people that have strong ethical values for the Counter Narcotics Bureau.

Naivalurua highlighted this to the media saying that they need people that are able to withstand the challenges of the environment that they will be working in, and that will not succumb to the temptation of doing something wrong or something that is bad.

He says they need strong ethically based officers that can withstand the challenges of what they will go through in their work environment.

The Minister also stressed that the Counter Narcotics Bureau has not been disbanded.

He says right now they are going through a process to select the right people that are fit for the purpose of the Bureau.

Naivalurua says that includes the ability to bring in the right capabilities, the right technology, and above all, the right tempo.

When asked about police officers coming back to the Bureau, Naivalurua says they have a strong selection process that they have put into place.
