An investigation is now underway after residents in Baulevu, Nausori lodged a report alleging that their water source was poisoned by someone.
The water source supplies water to about 200 homes in the area.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro says some residents collected some water to mix grog and they claim the water tasted different.
They went to check the source and there were dead prawns in the water.
A report was then lodged by the residents.
Police have taken some water samples and will be handing it over to the Mineral Resources Department for testing as investigations continue.
