Lawyer Filipe Batiwale is the new commissioner for the Online Safety Commission Fiji.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Communications, Manoa Kamikamica, says Batiwale's appointment will bring over seven years of experience in cyber law and digital asset protection, making him an invaluable addition to the Commission.

Kamikamica says Batiwale is a dedicated senior lawyer with a current practicing certificate in Australia, specializing in commercial law, cyber law, and digital asset protection.

He says Batiwale’s expertise in online safety and his commitment to protecting the digital rights of all users will further the Commission's mission to create a safer internet for everyone.

Batiwale says he is deeply honored by the appointment and looks forward to serving the people of Fiji and addressing the challenges faced in the online space.

He says he will focus on ensuring the Commission effectively fulfills its functions under the Online Safety Act, working collaboratively with stakeholders to promote accountability, education and responsible online interactions.
