Barrios retains WBC title after split draw with Pacquiao

Mario Barrios has retained his WBC welterweight title after his bout with boxing legend Manny Pacquiao ended in a draw at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas this afternoon.

The 46-year-old Pacquiao returned to the professional boxing ring after a four-year absence.

After 12 rounds, two judges scored the fight 114–114, while the third judge scored it 115–113 in favour of the defending champion, allowing Barrios to retain the title.

Pacquiao last fought professionally in 2021, when he lost to Yordenis Ugas by unanimous decision.

During the boxing icon’s time away from the ring, Barrios has fought five times, building experience and momentum in the welterweight division.
