FijiFirst Leader Voreqe Bainimarama says many opposition parties are trying to bring back the Great Council of Chiefs and this is a tactic they are using to try and get votes from the people.

While speaking in the iTaukei language during a campaign meeting at Nakurukuru Village Hall in Lami, Bainimarama says the four opposition parties, namely Unity Fiji, SODELPA, NFP and People's Alliance are pushing this policy wherever they campaign.

He says Mahendra Chaudhry forgets that the GCC of that time wanted to remove him during the 2000 coup and Professor Biman Prasad, who is always holding Rabuka’s pants, is just following what Rabuka says.

Bainimarama says he removed the GCC because the chiefs were not shown the respect they deserve and also politics crept in.

He claims that whenever there was a GCC meeting, only 6 people were talking and these 6 people controlled the council.

The FijiFirst Leader says he will not bring back the GCC.
