Bainimarama released after questioning at Valelevu Police Station

Former Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama has been released after questioning at Valelevu Police Station.

Chief of Intelligence and Investigations, ACP Sakeo Raikaci says this was a continuation of the questioning process in relation to the abuse of office case.

ACP Raikaci says the investigation file is being compiled before it will be forwarded to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Police had earlier said that the report pertains to allegations that Bainimarama had approved the waiver of a process for the purchase of medical equipment worth over $500,000.

ACP Raikaci says the matter was initially reported to FICAC and is now being investigated by the CID taskforce.
