Good news for parents as government has just announced the Back to School Support Payment of $200 for 2024.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Professor Biman Prasad says this initiative reflects the Coalition Government's commitment to supporting education and making sure that our children get all the support they need.

Prof. Prasad says it is at the beginning of the school year that a lot of parents struggle to find funding to support their children.

He says as a government they feel this is a very important initiative.

The Deputy Prime Minister says applications open on Monday and will close on Friday 22nd December, 2023.

He says this means parents and guardians will have 7 weeks to gather all the required documentation.

Prof. Prasad says the payments will start from 10th January, 2024.

Minister for Education, Aseri Radrodro says the Ministry will ensure that every child eligible for this assistance will receive the $200.

Radrodro says that Heads of Schools and District Education Officers have been requested and reminded of the critical role they play in the facilitation and verification of the application forms.

He also asks if parents and guardians can take their time and fill in the forms correctly.
