Police, RFMF and Fiji Maritime Surveillance Rescue Coordination Centre officers are currently on their way to the crash site in Delaikoro, Vanua Levu where the Pacific Flying School plane wreckage was spotted earlier today.

The plane wreckage was spotted by an aerial search team led by the Fiji Maritime Surveillance Rescue Coordination Centre.

Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police, Rusiate Tudravu says that while their team was conducting an aerial search this morning, the plane wreck was spotted in the rugged terrain in Delaikoro.

He says the Search and Rescue Team regrouped at Labasa Airport to map out a path to get to the site.

Meanwhile experienced engineering investigator, Andrew McGregor has been appointed to carry out all the necessary investigations regarding the plane that went missing at 12.30pm Monday.

Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Civil Aviation, Aiyaz Sayed‑Khaiyum says McGregor will arrive into the country tomorrow.

Sayed-Khaiyum says the thoughts and prayers of every Fijian are with the families of the missing flight instructor and student pilot.
