Australian Defence Force hands over new school building to Galoa Island

Students of Galoa Primary School will today start the school year in two new classrooms.

The Australian Defence Force and the Republic of Fiji Military Forces handed over two new classrooms and an Administration Office yesterday.

Divisional Education Officer Northern, Ilisapeci Volai commended the swift response from the partnering forces that has enabled her team to open schools from today.

Galoa Primary School Head Teacher, Rishi Ram says they expect 73 students to enroll for the new school year.

The Commanding Officer for the HMAS Adelaide, Captain Stuart Watters says the combined manpower between the ADF and RFMF helped in the quick rebuilding of the classrooms.

Captain Watters says they also carried out quick fixes on the school's hostel and donated 15 soccer and rugby balls each.

ADF has so far repaired a total of 32 schools.

The HMAS Adelaide is expected to depart tomorrow.
