Australia welcomes increased US presence in the Pacific
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese

Australian Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese has welcomed the increased engagement of the United States in the Pacific region as the US has announced an increased support package, diplomatic presence, aid and infrastructural development.

He says it was an error on Australia’s part to not visit the Pacific earlier.

The Australian Prime Minister says he has had a number of discussions with Pacific leaders and they look forward to developing these positive relationships on a personal basis going forward.

Albanese has also given credit to Fijian Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama for ensuring that the US Vice President Kamala Harris who is a very significant figure, has been able to address Pacific Island Forum leaders and this is something Australia supports.
