My life would never have been the same if it was not for the Fiji School of the Blind's Community Based Rehabilitation Program.
That is the sentiment of fifteen year old Marika who is one of the students at the Fiji School of the Blind.
Speaking after the School received a seventy five thousand dollar donation from AusAid yesterday Marika said that the School and the hostel is the only hope for students with visual impairment.
Meanwhile, Community Based Rehabilitation field officer Vishwa Chand reveals that their six officers are based in the urban areas and deal with over 300 cases, adding that there are more people who need help around the country.
The Fiji School of the blind received $75,000 with $35,000 going to the School hostel which caters for close to 41 students and the rest of the money going towards the Community program and buying more educational material such as Braille paper.
The youngest student in the school is only six years old with the eldest being an eighteen year old Solomon Island boy by the name of Simon.
