There are suggestions that certain levies should be imposed in primary schools to meet cost in operating schools.
Speaking at the Arya Pratinidhi Annual Convention in Nakasi yesterday, President Bhuwan Dutt said school fees to be charged in primary schools remained unresolved and delay in finalising the matter is causing difficulties in the administration of schools.
He has urged Ministry of Education to resolve the matter soon.
Meanwhile, attempts to get comment from the Education Ministry proved futile.
However, Education Minister Filipe Bole had clarified earlier that all primary school children were supposed to pay only $10 as school fees and any amount beyond that has to be approved first by the Ministry of Education permanent secretary.
