Anyone arriving in Australia from overseas will be forced to self-isolate for 14 days.

Australia's Prime Minister Scott Morrison says the new measure will be in place from midnight as they deal with the coronavirus outbreak.

Morrison says international cruise ships will also be banned from docking in Australia for 30 days.

Australians are also being advised to practice more "social distancing", including not shaking hands with other people.

Morrison says the new advice was agreed upon at today's national Cabinet meeting.

He says his ministers will also be meeting via video-link as a precaution.
