It is a memorable moment for the villagers of Navai in Nadarivatu to witness their apple tree bearing fruit for the first time on their land.

While speaking to fijivillage News last night, Maika Tuinakelo says over the years they planted the apple trees but never expected them to bear fruit because it had been a while since apple trees had grown in their village.

Tuinakelo says maybe because of the change in the weather pattern and more rainfall on their land, the tree has started bearing fruit.

He says last year villagers also planted strawberries and it was the first time as well to bear fruit.

He further says with what they have witnessed at the beginning of this year, they believe that from now onwards, more apple trees will be planted because it has produced fruit.
