Suva Stand-up Paddlers representative and General Secretary of the Pacific Council of Churches, Reverend James Bhagwan has raised serious concerns this morning after yet another fuel spill - this time in the channel inside the Suva Harbour where the boats go in and out along Laucala Bay.

A concerned Reverend Bhagwan has posted a video on his facebook page, calling for immediate action from the Minister for Environment, Mosese Bulitavu, Permanent Secretary, Doctor Sivendra Michael and Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji.

He confirms the massive amount of diesel is 1 kilometre out of where China Club is located.

Reverend Bhagwan says just as he was paddling through that fuel early this morning, he saw a young turtle.

Reverend Bhagwan is calling for real action and ocean leadership, and not just talk about keeping our ocean and environment clean.

We have contacted Permanent Secretary for Environment, Doctor Sivendra Michael.

He has confirmed that he has sent a team out to investigate the issue.

We have asked for a full update.

Stay with us for developments.
