Some announcements are expected soon in relation to the planned divestment of some shares in Airports Fiji Limited.

The government owns AFL at the moment.

Public Enterprises Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum told AFL staff today that they are now going ahead with their plan to divest the shares.

And it will be a special Christmas for Airports Fiji Limited workers as AFL will pay $600,000 in Christmas bonus to all the staff.

The bonus pay was approved by the Prime Minister and announced by Sayed-Khaiyum early this morning.

Sayed-Khaiyum took the good news to the staff gathered at Nadi International Airport at about 7 o’clock this morning.

He said the bonus was paid based on a strong financial performance by AFL in 2015.

Sayed-Khaiyum said as per its management accounts, AFL is forecasting an end of the year record profit of $40 million before tax and $32 million profit after tax.

AFL’s Executive Chair Faiz Khan said the bonus will be paid at the rate of 5% of base salary at the time of the bonus payment.
