Alleged murderer explains why he asked for forgiveness
Tevita Kunawave sought forgiveness in court yesterday.

Tevita Kunawave who is on trial for allegedly killing his baby in October last year today explained in the Suva High Court why he sought forgiveness in court yesterday while giving evidence.

In cross-examination by Assistant DPP Elizabeth Rice, it was put to Kunawave that he apologised yesterday because he had a guilty conscience.

Kunawave said he asked for forgiveness because he felt pity for his parents, wife, children and reputation.

Kunawave is charged with a count of murder for allegedly killing his baby in October last year by throwing a concrete block through the window that hit the baby’s forehead.

The trial continues before Judge, Justice Daniel Goundar.
