Alleged arsonist in house fire which killed 4 women denied bail
[L-R] 19-year-old Zuhair Dean with his lawyers and Saimumu Din

Saimumu Din who is alleged to have started a house fire that killed four elderly women in Benau, Labasa with his alleged accomplice 19-year-old Zuhair Dean in April this year, has been denied bail by High Court Judge Justice Daniel Goundar.

The DPP lawyer Amelia Vavadakua had objected to bail saying Din had been reported to be inciting members of the community to stone and set fire to the house.

She has also requested time to go over the forensic report and file information.

Both men are charged with four counts of murder, one count of attempted murder and one count of arson.

Zuhair Dean was previously granted bail on strict conditions.

The case will be called for plea on the 24th of this month.
