Alleged arsonist fit to stand trial - Justice Goundar

The 38-year-old man who is alleged to have set his house on fire in Nadawa on the 5th of June is fit to take plea and stand trial.

High Court Judge, Justice Daniel Goundar revealed in court that the man has a long standing substance abuse disorder.

It is alleged that the man set the house he rented in on fire and attempted to harm his two sons aged 10 years and 1 year 9 months.

He is charged with one count of arson and two counts of attempted murder.

A Domestic Violence Restraining Order has also been issued.

The man is to take his plea on the 27th of this month before Justice Goundar.
