Commissioner Northern, Uraia Rainima confirms all schools that were being used as evacuation centres have been cleared.

Rainima says they have moved evacuees to their make-shift homes, and some are back in their homes after they carried out quick-fixes and constructed temporary structures on partially damaged homes.

He says the RFMF Engineers are carrying out quick-fixes on partially damaged homes and erecting make-shift homes around Vanua Levu.

Rainima says they are still discussing permanent-fixes for schools, but their plan is to carry out quick-fixes on schools to hand them over to the Ministry of Education by the 11th, as school is scheduled to start on the 18th of this month.

37 evacuation centres are active in the Northern Division with 1,303 evacuees.
