All Nasese buses grounded

All Nasese buses grounded
All Nasese buses have been grounded from today.

Fijivillage has received confirmation that the decision has been made by the Land Transport Authority and it has been relayed to the Ministry of Transport.

The decision has been made after the recent bus fires.

Land Transport Authority chief executive officer Naisa Tuinaceva said the step has to be taken as Nasese Buses Limited has to ensure that the LTA’s safety requirements are met.

He said the safety of the travelling public cannot be compromised.

Tuinaceva said the issue is not only in relation to the bus fires but it is also related to the number of breakdowns and the mechanical defects in the buses.

Tuinaceva assured the public that the routes serviced by Nasese Buses will not be affected as other bus operators will provide services in these areas from today.

LTA said about 30 plus Nasese buses have been grounded.

Tuinaceva said they will check the new buses brought in by the company first before they check the old ones.

No timeframe has been set for the grounding of the Nasese buses.

The most recent bus fire case involving a Nasese bus was yesterday at Rewa Street which was carrying a group of kindergarten students and parents.
