All Blacks captain Sam Cane will be out of rugby for up to six months, after suffering a chest injury.

The Chiefs said in a statement that Cane would miss the remainder of the Super Rugby Aotearoa season and undergo surgery next week after suffering the injury in the win over the Blues on Saturday.

His expected recovery time is four to six months post-surgery, ruling him out of part of the All Blacks season as well.

In Super Rugby Aotearoa this week, the Crusaders take on the Highlanders at 6.05pm Friday while the Blues play the Hurricanes at 6.05pm Saturday.
