Prominent businessman Ajai Punja has been granted bail in the sum of $500 by the Nadi Magistrates Court this afternoon.

Punja is charged with one count of unlawful possession of illicit drugs.

His home was raided last Friday afternoon which resulted in the discovery of white substances and dried leaves believed to be illicit substances.

Police say the forensic analysis conducted on the white substances tested negative for illicit drugs.

However they say an analysis conducted on the dried leaves has returned positive for marijuana.

The matter has been adjourned to the 20th of March.
