Air Pac needs to make tough decisions-AG

Cost restructuring, rationalisation processes and proper plans need to be implemented to ensure Fiji's international carrier, Air Pacific continues to grow for the benefit of the airline company and the country as a whole.

Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said there are several challenges and tough decisions have to be made.

He said this will result in the way things are being done by the airline company.

While speaking to the airline workers in Nadi yesterday, Sayed-Khaiyum said there are some real issues that need to be addressed including the issue of the aircraft leasing arrangement.

He said at the end of the day that will be the competitive edge combined with the service provided by the workers.

He also said people need to understand that Qantas which is a shareholder in Air Pacific is also running, Jetstar which is one of Air Pacific's competitors.
