Passengers broke into applause after an Air New Zealand plane with a cracked windscreen landed following a stormy flight to Christchurch.
The turboprop plane departed Hokitika in the West Coast region of New Zealand's South Island early this morning before running into turbulent conditions and sustaining a crack to its windscreen.
The Pilot says that the flight over the Southern Alps was "seriously rough", in almost white‑out conditions with hail and sleet visible through the windows.
On arrival at Christchurch Airport, passengers broke into applause.
The pilot said it was the most full-on experience he'd had in a cockpit.
