Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says after three decades of negotiations, loss and damage is finally on the agenda at COP27.

In a tweet, he says the Pacific have fought too hard for too long to accept anything less.

Sayed-Khaiyum says now loss and damage financing must move from a mirage to reality.

The BBC reports that more than 120 world leaders have arrived for COP27 in Egypt.

The UN's climate change summit has opened with a warning that our planet is "sending a distress signal".

This will kick off two weeks of negotiations between countries on climate action.
