Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States region are faced with a set of extraordinary circumstances which are now amplifying existing challenges and vulnerabilities.

While addressing the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States leaders today, Bainimarama says these challenges are the COVID pandemic and its related economic challenges, intensifying climate crisis, and the ongoing geopolitical tussle on the rim of the Pacific Region.

He further says to combat such challenges, they must work together and forge their own development future and ensure that their engagement with all their international partners respond to their collective vision and priorities for a Blue Pacific.

The Prime Minister adds the region is now on the frontline of the climate crisis and only a 1.5 degree world will safeguard our region’s sustainable future.
