An additional 10,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine have arrived from Australia.

Australia's High Commissioner to Fiji, John Feakes says they are pleased to announce this second delivery of Australia-made AstraZeneca vaccines which landed in Nadi last night to further assist Fiji’s COVID19 vaccine rollout.

Feakes says Australia continues to stand with the Fijian government through this ongoing challenge and supports their efforts.

These vaccines follow an initial 10,000 doses that arrived on May 6th.

Permanent Secretary for Health, Doctor James Fong had earlier said the current commitments for the COVID-19 vaccine doses for the country can cover 484,000 Fijians.

He says we need to cover 650,000 people.
